a vest for DH...

Just finished this vest for the husband...
I knit it in the round, using 4.83 skeins of Bernat Alpaca Natural Blends in Ebony. The neck collar was a bit high, but he prefers a tighter neckline and liked it that way, despite my initially wanting to knit a deeper v-neck.

But, it's a good bulky vest for whenever he wants to wear it! :) Hopefully it'll get some good use, now that the weather's starting to cool off!

skull cablery!

Super yummery: I'm adoring this skull cable, and am currently knitting it into a scarf for my nephew for Christmas. Granted I only have about half the scarf done so far, but here's how the cable knits up:

The cable's worked across 22 sts, and I'm doing a K1,P1,K1,P1,K1 rib on either side. I'm also using Bernat Wool Blend in Slate to knit it up, so it'll be nice and warm.

I <3 free stuff, especially when it comes to knitting!

In case you haven't discovered this on your own or via ravelry, this survey from Bernat takes up only a few minutes of your time, and you receive a pdf file in return of one of their pattern books. You get the choice of one of three. Part 1 of the survey is for the knitting patterns, part 2 is for the crochet patterns.
